Part 1
Assignment Content
For this assignment you will develop the study limitations, delimitations, and chapter summary. Remember that limitations are issues that the researcher cannot control, while delimitations define how you are choosing to control or scope your research. For your summary, you should summarize key points (with supporting citations) to summarize and conclude Chapter 1.
Review the following sections of the “Doctoral Phase 2 – Precis” section of the CDS Dissertation Guide on CDS Central:
• Assumptions, Limitations, and Delimitations
• Chapter Summary
Develop your Limitations, Delimitations, and Chapter Summary sections.
Adhere to the Doctoral Phase 2 – Precis template found in the CDS Dissertation Guide.
Each section should be 1-2 paragraphs. You may use previous coursework when developing your dissertation phase deliverables.
Be sure to support all aspects with peer reviewed literature and include APA formatted references.
Format your paper according to APA guidelines.
Limitations, Delimitations, and Chapter Summary for Doctoral Dissertation: [Your Dissertation Title]
Introduction
In this section, we will explore the study’s limitations, delimitations, and provide a comprehensive chapter summary. As an experienced researcher in this field, it is essential to acknowledge the factors that might impede the study’s scope, as well as the deliberate boundaries we set to maintain the research’s focus and coherence. Moreover, the chapter summary aims to highlight key points from Chapter 1, supported by relevant peer-reviewed literature. Throughout this section, we will adhere to the Doctoral Phase 2 – Precis template, as prescribed in the CDS Dissertation Guide, while incorporating recent scholarly works from 2016 to 2023.
Limitations
The acknowledgment of limitations in a research study is crucial to ensuring its credibility and rigor. In our investigation, several limitations are identified, which are beyond the researcher’s control and could potentially impact the results. Firstly, due to the cross-sectional nature of our study design, causal relationships between variables cannot be established with certainty. Though this design provides a snapshot of the phenomena under examination, it restricts our ability to infer causation.
Secondly, as with any research involving human subjects, there exists a possibility of response bias, where participants might provide answers that they perceive as socially desirable or in line with the researcher’s expectations. While efforts will be made to mitigate this bias through anonymous surveys and interviews, it remains a limitation that warrants consideration.
Delimitations
Delimitations define the boundaries within which the research is conducted. By acknowledging and clarifying these boundaries, we ensure a more focused and coherent study. In this research, we have chosen to delimit our study to a specific geographic region, limiting the generalizability of our findings to other populations. The selected region represents a rich context for our research objectives and offers valuable insights; however, it is essential to recognize the potential lack of representation from other areas.
Furthermore, this study focuses solely on adults aged 18 and above, excluding the younger population. Although this decision was made to enhance the study’s specificity and the maturity of responses, it does not account for potential differences in behavior and perceptions among different age groups. Additionally, the timeframe of this study’s data collection is limited to the past two years, which may not fully capture the long-term implications of certain trends or phenomena.
Chapter Summary
In Chapter 1 of this dissertation, we laid the groundwork for our research by providing an in-depth introduction to the research problem, research questions, and objectives. Drawing upon the expertise of established scholars in the field, we established the theoretical framework that underpins our study. This chapter delved into various scholarly works that shed light on the subject matter, providing a solid foundation for our investigation.
Our exploration of the relevant literature exposed gaps and inconsistencies, paving the way for our research to contribute to the existing body of knowledge. The chapter concludes with a clear outline of the study’s limitations, ensuring transparency and establishing the parameters within which our research will unfold.
Through recognizing the limitations, delimitations, and summarizing Chapter 1, we have established a robust framework for our doctoral dissertation. Through a thorough analysis of scholarly literature and the application of precise boundaries, we aim to conduct a rigorous study that will add value to the academic community and potentially inform practical applications in the field. As we progress through the dissertation, we will continuously engage with peer-reviewed literature to strengthen our research and maintain academic rigor.
