Assessment Brief Choose one of the options and write 3 pages. Option 1:Referencing the binary code of the social construct of the birth determinant of sex and the social construct of gender as appearance/behaviour, show both these theories, along with their links to DuBois's theory of Double Consciousness, examples of Goffman's theory of the Dramaturgical Model and mostly Hegel's theory of the Master/Slave dialectic and find their representations in the selected film shown in class, "Paris is Burning" – show how the formations of Race, Sexuality, Class and Gender intersect and how their construction is similar.How can these theories be explained through the subjects in the film? How does this film display sex/gender/race/class? Option 2:How has industrial farming shaped our eating habits and food culture? What are it’s effects on society as a whole? How does it affect people, animals, land, neighborhoods? How is it relevant to class, race, ethnicity, gender, age? How is it relative to local politics, national politics, education, health care, housing? Use talking points from the lecture we attended and/or “Eating Animals”; if you use the book YOU MUST GIVE CITATION, this has to be very clear. YOU MUST shape your argument referencing some of the sociological theories we have discussed this semester such as, Erving Goffman's theory of Dramaturgical Model, Foucault's notions of socially constructed power, Fausto-Sterling's identification of sex as a construct, the social construct of gender as a performance, Hegel's Master/Slave dialectic, DuBois Double Consciousness,  Weber’s Rationalization, Marx’s Bourgeois/Proletariat, Durkheim’s Social Facts and notions of Deviancy,  to name some. You may chose one or a combination of the ones you feel you understand the best.
