Write a 3-5 page, well-organized paper about one work of art (12 Pt., double space, times new roman). Attached is a list of possible subjects. Method: You are to make a thorough visual analysis of the painting you choose, and then compare it with one other related work of art. Please include a xerox of the painting you are using as a comparison, if the latter is not illustrated in the Gardner text. Below are some points to consider in looking at your painting. You may organize your paper in the manner you wish. However, I do not want a checklist of the points mentioned below. It helps a great deal to make a drawing of the painting you are studying.

The painting I have chosen for this paper is “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh. This iconic work of art was painted in 1889, and is currently housed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In this paper, I will be providing a thorough visual analysis of the painting and comparing it with another related work of art.

“Starry Night” is an oil on canvas painting measuring 73.7 x 92.1 cm. The painting features a small village in the foreground, with a church steeple and houses visible. The sky above the village is painted with swirling blues, yellows, and greens, depicting a starry night.
