Exploring the Connection between Human Nature and Happiness

This essay will explore the connection between human nature and happiness. Happiness is an essential aspect of human nature that has been studied extensively by philosophers, psychologists, and neuroscientists. The essay will discuss the different theories of happiness, the factors that contribute to happiness, and how nature can support us in achieving happiness.

I have selected this topic because I believe that happiness is a fundamental aspect of human nature. Everyone seeks happiness, and yet it remains elusive for many. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the factors that contribute to happiness and how we can cultivate it in our lives.

To support my arguments, I will cite four sources covered in class and three to four outside sources. The sources covered in class include “The Nature Fix” by Florence Williams, “The Happiness Hypothesis” by Jonathan Haidt, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, and “The Bhagavad Gita.” The outside sources will include articles and research papers on happiness and human nature.

Using the “They Say, I Say” template, I will present the different theories of happiness, including the hedonic and eudaimonic theories. I will then discuss the factors that contribute to happiness, such as positive emotions, social relationships, and meaning and purpose in life. Finally, I will explore how nature can support us in achieving happiness by providing opportunities for awe, mindfulness, and physical activity.

In conclusion, this essay will demonstrate that happiness is a fundamental aspect of human nature that can be cultivated through various means, including positive emotions, social relationships, and meaningful activities. Nature can also play a vital role in supporting our well-being and happiness.
