Balancing School and Life – My Quality of Life Self-Care Plan. The purpose of developing this Plan is to set a framework and a plan to maintain wellness and to stay motivated and engaged throughout your Program. Doing this will help you achieve success during your coursework and as a professional nurse.
The goal of the Project is to help you become self-aware and reflective as a means of identifying personal self-care strategies that will increase your energy and help you manage your stress. The Project will give you a chance to learn how this is accomplished as you will be doing similar work with clients during the Program and as a professional nurse to assist them in the same way.

Balancing School and Life – My Quality of Life Self-Care Plan
Introduction:
Maintaining a balance between school and personal life is essential for maintaining overall wellness and achieving success in any educational program, especially in the demanding field of nursing. This paper aims to compare and reflect upon my initial quality of life self-assessment scores at the beginning of the course with my current scores at the end of the course. Additionally, I will discuss how these scores have improved, declined, or remained the same and provide an explanation for any variations. Furthermore, I will outline new or revised strategies that I plan to implement to maintain or improve my desired quality of life throughout the nursing program.
Comparison of Initial and Current Scores:
Upon initially completing the quality of life self-assessment tool at the beginning of the course, I obtained an overall score of X, indicating my baseline level of quality of life. After diligently following my self-care plan and implementing various strategies throughout the course, I am pleased to note that my current scores have improved. At present, my overall score stands at Y, which signifies a significant enhancement in my quality of life.
Explanation for Variations in Scores:
The improvements in my scores can be attributed to the consistent and dedicated effort I invested in self-care practices. I prioritized time management, ensuring that I allocated sufficient time for both academic and personal activities. By adhering to a well-structured study schedule, I was able to manage my coursework effectively, reducing stress and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Moreover, I actively engaged in stress-reducing activities such as regular exercise, meditation, and spending quality time with loved ones. These practices allowed me to alleviate stress, foster mental well-being, and enhance overall happiness and satisfaction in life.
New or Revised Strategies:
To maintain and further improve my desired quality of life throughout the nursing program, I have identified several new or revised strategies:
Establishing Boundaries: Recognizing the importance of setting boundaries, I will learn to say ‘no’ when necessary and prioritize self-care without guilt. This will help me avoid excessive workload and prevent burnout.
Seeking Support: I will actively seek support from my peers, instructors, and mentors when needed. By fostering a network of individuals who understand the challenges of the nursing program, I can gain valuable advice, encouragement, and motivation.
Time for Relaxation: Incorporating regular relaxation activities into my routine, such as practicing mindfulness, engaging in hobbies, or spending time in nature, will help rejuvenate my mind and promote overall well-being.
Regular Exercise: I will continue to prioritize regular physical activity, as it not only improves physical health but also boosts mood and reduces stress.
Reflective Practice: Engaging in regular self-reflection and journaling will allow me to process my experiences, emotions, and challenges effectively. This practice will promote self-awareness, personal growth, and resilience.
