Angina Acute Myocardial Infarction
Pathophysiology Angina is caused by a temporary imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand, resulting in chest discomfort or pain. It is usually caused by coronary artery disease and is a precursor to myocardial infarction. Myocardial infarction is the result of prolonged myocardial ischemia, leading to irreversible myocardial cell damage or necrosis. This occurs when a coronary artery is completely occluded, usually by a blood clot, leading to the death of myocardial cells.

Administer beta-blockers to decrease myocardial oxygen demand.
Administer antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy to prevent thrombus formation. 1. Administer oxygen to increase myocardial oxygen supply.

Administer thrombolytic therapy to dissolve the blood clot.
Administer antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy to prevent further thrombus formation.
Prepare the patient for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) if indicated.
Monitor cardiac rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and fluid and electrolyte balance.
Provide emotional support and education to the patient and family.
