A STUDY OF THE PERCEPTION OF MARITIME SERVICES IN NIGERIA
A STUDY OF THE PERCEPTION OF MARITIME SERVICES IN NIGERIA
Maritime services are essential for the development of any coastal country, especially one with a large population and economy like Nigeria. Maritime services include activities such as shipping, port operations, offshore oil and gas exploration and production, marine logistics, maritime security, maritime education and training, and maritime regulation and administration. These services contribute to the economic growth, social welfare, environmental protection, and national security of Nigeria.
However, the perception of maritime services in Nigeria may not be very positive among the general public, the stakeholders, and the policy makers. This may be due to various factors such as lack of awareness, inadequate infrastructure, poor service quality, high cost, corruption, insecurity, and regulatory challenges. These factors may affect the satisfaction, trust, loyalty, and patronage of the customers and beneficiaries of maritime services in Nigeria.
Therefore, this study aims to examine the perception of maritime services in Nigeria from different perspectives and dimensions. The study will use both quantitative and qualitative methods to collect and analyze data from various sources such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, and secondary data. The study will also use various theoretical frameworks and models to explain and measure the perception of maritime services in Nigeria.
The expected outcomes of this study are:
– To provide a comprehensive overview of the current state and trends of maritime services in Nigeria
– To identify the key factors that influence the perception of maritime services in Nigeria
– To assess the level of satisfaction, trust, loyalty, and patronage of the customers and beneficiaries of maritime services in Nigeria
– To propose strategies and recommendations to improve the perception of maritime services in Nigeria
– To contribute to the academic literature and policy discourse on maritime services in Nigeria
The study will be useful for various stakeholders such as the government, the regulators, the service providers, the customers, the researchers, and the general public. The study will also enhance the understanding and appreciation of maritime services in Nigeria and their role in national development.
