A. Points of Application Using the “Four Questions for Application”:

The question of duty: One point of application that can be made regarding the question of duty is the importance of serving others in our daily lives. In Acts 9:36-43, we see the example of Tabitha (also known as Dorcas), who was known for her acts of kindness and charity towards others. As followers of Christ, we are called to serve and love others just as He did. This can involve volunteering in our communities, helping those in need, and sharing the gospel with others. By fulfilling our duty to serve others, we can bring glory to God and make a positive impact in the world around us.

The question of character: Another point of application relates to the question of character. In this passage, we see the character of Tabitha, who was known for her good works and acts of kindness. Her character is a model for us as believers to emulate in our own lives. We should strive to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). By developing these qualities, we can reflect the character of Christ to those around us and bring glory to God.

The question of goals: A point of application regarding the question of goals is the importance of setting our sights on eternal things rather than temporary things. In this passage, we see how Tabitha’s life impacted others for eternity, as many were moved to faith in Christ through her testimony. As believers, we should set our goals on things that have eternal significance, such as sharing the gospel with others and investing in the spiritual growth of those around us. By doing so, we can make a lasting impact on the world and bring glory to God.

The question of discernment: Finally, a point of application regarding the question of discernment is the importance of seeking God’s will in all things. In this passage, we see how Peter prayed for discernment and received guidance from the Holy Spirit regarding what to do for Tabitha. As believers, we should also seek God’s will and guidance in our lives through prayer and studying His Word. By doing so, we can discern the best course of action in any situation and bring glory to God through our obedience to His will.
