In the Middle Ages, religious orders such as the Knights Hospitaller and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem established hospitals to care for the sick and injured.
Evolution of Nursing as a Profession:
During the 19th century, nursing began to emerge as a formal profession. Florence Nightingale, considered the founder of modern nursing, established the first secular nursing school in 1860.
