Dance Movement Therapy is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA)
as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and
physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being.
With reference to a theory that discusses a particular way of how the mind and body are
linked, defend the role of movement and its impact on the psychosocial functioning of
individuals. (50 marks) ====> The mind-body connection is a central concept in the field of dance movement therapy (DMT). One theory that supports the role of movement in promoting psychological well-being is the somatic theory of emotion. This theory suggests that emotions are not just experienced in the mind but also in the body. When individuals engage in movement, they can process and regulate their emotions through the physical sensations they experience. This connection between emotions and movement can help individuals develop a better understanding of their emotions, leading to improved emotional regulation and increased overall well-being. Additionally, movement can also improve cognitive function and social interaction, as it promotes increased focus, awareness, and communication. You are to choose a 10-minute acting scene from a film or television drama series and focus
on a character within it.
With reference to Laban theory, and from your observation of the character’s body postures
and movement, create a movement profile that includes description and critical evaluation of
your observation. You are advised to focus on the character’s needs, attitudes and emotions
that are implied in the movement observation.

• Select a film or TV series that can be found on YouTube or Netflix.
• Make sure you include 1) the name of the film or TV series, 2) the platform where it can
