Writing Guide:
To complete this activity, you will need to select a music or dance movement and a specific work from that movement. Then, you will need to conduct research to examine the historical and political influences of the movement and how the work reflects these characteristics.
To find a primary source from the artist, you may search for interviews, articles, or quotes from the artist about the selected work or movement. To find a scholarly source from a critic, you may search academic databases, such as JSTOR or Project MUSE, for articles or book chapters that analyze the selected work or movement.
Once you have gathered your sources, you can begin writing your initial post. In your post, you should include a clear thesis statement that summarizes your analysis of the movement and work. Then, provide evidence and examples to support your thesis, drawing from your research and the assigned resources.
In your follow-up post, you should respond to a peer’s initial post by providing additional information, posing questions, or offering constructive feedback. Remember to cite your sources using APA format for in-text citations and a list of references.
