• For this assignment, you will conduct a mock interview with a friend or family member using two of the following tools: Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test, T-ACE, and/or Michigan Alcohol Screening Test. • Compose a 1000-2000 word paper detailing the individual experience of administering 2 alcohol screening tools. • In your paper, briefly describe the tools and describe their experience administering each tool. • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each tool • Identify what questions were difficult to ask during the mock interview and why • Make suggestions for future versions of the tool.

The Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) is a 10-item questionnaire developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to identify individuals who may have alcohol-related problems. The questions cover the quantity and frequency of alcohol consumption, dependence symptoms, and the consequences of alcohol use.

The T-ACE is a shorter screening tool that consists of four questions. The questions are related to tolerance, annoyed, cut down, and eye-opener, hence the acronym T-ACE. The T-ACE is particularly useful for identifying pregnant women who may be at risk for alcohol-related problems.

The Michigan Alcohol Screening Test (MAST) is a 22-item questionnaire that assesses the individual’s alcohol use patterns and history, including past experiences with blackouts, legal and financial problems related to alcohol, and withdrawal symptoms.

Each tool has its own strengths and weaknesses. The AUDIT is a comprehensive tool that provides a detailed assessment of alcohol use patterns and related problems, but it may be time-consuming to administer. The T-ACE is a quick and easy-to-use tool, but it may not be as comprehensive as the AUDIT or MAST. The MAST provides a detailed assessment of alcohol use patterns and related problems, but it may be too long for some individuals to complete.

During the mock interview, some questions may be difficult to ask depending on the relationship between the interviewer and the interviewee, and the nature of the questions. For example, questions related to the individual’s dependence symptoms or legal problems may be uncomfortable to ask. For future versions of the tools, it may be helpful to simplify the language used in the questions to make them more understandable for individuals with limited literacy skills or non-English speakers. Additionally, it may be helpful to include a disclaimer or explanation about the purpose of the tool to alleviate any discomfort or confusion for the individual being interviewed.
