Though philosophy may not have all too much to show for all of its work, at least if compared to science, then at the very least it causes people to think for themselves and to not forget about things which are important to human nature. Such things as religion, ethics, values, and creativity are all important to us as humans. If using the Verification Principle, all such things would be “cognitively meaningless. ” In a way, it is the things that are “cognitively meaningless” that are more important than the “cognitively meaningful. They are what define us and not only set us apart from all other species, but also from each other.
