CO 2: Making appropriate evidence-based therapeutic treatment decisions for individual patients is a key aspect of the nurse practitioner role. This involves utilizing knowledge of the most commonly prescribed agents in the major drug classes, as well as understanding the latest clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based research. This ensures that patients receive safe and effective treatment that is tailored to their specific needs.

CO 3: Applying knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics in prescribing patient treatment is crucial for ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate therapy. Understanding how drugs are metabolized, distributed, and eliminated in the body, as well as how genetic factors can influence drug response, allows the NP to make informed decisions about dosing and potential interactions.

CO 4: Distinguishing internal and external environment factors that affect drug action, reaction, efficacy, and interaction is important for providing safe and effective care.
