Seek out resources on cover letters, resumes, and other professional resources, as needed. The Walden University Career Planning and Development site has information on many topics of relevance.

For the portfolio you are to create for the week ten assignment, the following items are all that are required. This is intended to be a working document useful to you at the beginning of your career.
COVER LETTER to an employer that you would consider for your first practice position. PLEASE do not use “to whom it may concern” , use the name and title of the employer or if that is not possible, use “Dear Director or the position of the head person” “Dear Hiring Manager” or Dear Sir or Madam” , as any of these communicate more than a generic place holder. This will set your letter off from all the rest who may have use the most generic term.
UPDATED RESUME (may include clinical practice during your clinical rotations, summarized and noted to be during your clinical rotation with a preceptor) to provide some experience in the role of NP
CAREER GOALS that could be incorporated into your cover letter or added at the top of your resume for reviewer’s convenience
TRANSCRIPTS copies only, no originals
ANY OTHER EVIDENCE OF SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES OR AWARDS that may include membership in professional organizations, or if you have presentations they may be included. This is not required.
REFERENCES, that may not be an actual letter, but a list of names of three persons and their title/position, and contact information who may be contacted on your behalf. (You will of course have notified them in advance).
SUBMIT AS ONE DOCUMENT, USING HEADINGS TO LABEL EACH DOCUMENT, AS BB CANNOT SEPARATE DOCUMENTS WITHIN ONE ASSIGNMENT.
